304. KAMPAR CLOCK TOWER, MALAYSIA



This clock tower was erected in 1957 to commemorate the independent of Malaya on 31 August 1957. it is located in the town of Kampar, a township bulit in the heart of Kinta Valley, Perak, one of the biggest tin mining region in the world at that time.

Tin mining has since ceased operations in the area when the tin price collapsed in the late eighties.

On 21 May 2009, the sub-district of kampar was officially elevated to a full district of the state of Perak by HRH the Sultan of Perak. The plaque of the district elevation is now prominently featured on one of this clock tower's walls.
