288. CHOOSING THE RIGHT WATCH FOR YOUR LADY’S SPECIAL OCCASIONS

Birthdays and wedding anniversaries are special occasions and moments to remember and cherish in life. Bouquets of flowers would reignite the sparks of those best moments but special gifts would definitely provide the icings.

Certina DS1 50th Anniversary Limited Edition (SOLD)

The first Certina DS1 collection was introduced in 1959 after undergoing rigorous testing in the Himalayas before release. It has enjoyed overwhelming response ever since. Come 2009, it will 50 years since the Double Security Concept, indicated by the letters "DS" was successfully introduced to the world of watchmaking.

To commemorate the anniversary, Certina has launched the "Certina Ds 50th Anniversary Limited Edition" with a limited number of 5,000 pieces worldwide.

The new Certina DS Automatic Limited Edition maybe best described as retro, sporty, fascinating yet elegant.

The black dial with sunburst finishing features fine seconds graduations at the rim with two perpendicular lines harmoniously crossing the centre. The dial bears an inscription confirming the timepiece's limited edition status. The dial is protected by a rounded anti-reflecting sapphire crystal.

The skeleton case back enables an easy peep at the automatic movement and incorporates the engraved number of the watch. In this case this timepiece bears the no.0229/5000.

The new Certina DS1 Automatic watch is fitted with a brown leather croco strap and housed in a special brown lacquered case accompanied by the certificate of authenticity.

CERTINA ‘ROBERT KUBICA’ LIMITED EDITION

Real proud to see the PETRONAS logo prominently displayed on the driver’s suit, helmet and the F1 BMW SAUBER car. More so, after podium finish by Robert Kubica at the second last leg of F1 2009 season, the Brazil GP. On 03 September 2007, Certina launched the sports watch, DS Podium ‘Robert Kubica’ Special Edition series at the Olympic Center in Warsaw, Poland to commemorate his successes. Produced at a limited series of only 1984 units, a figure inspired by the birth year of the young driver, the watch features Robert’s personal colours as seen on his protective racing helmet.

The caseback carries the individual serial number of the unit and is equipped with a transparent window to show the ETA 7750 Automatic Valjoux workings of the watch, as well as the filigreed silhoutte of Robert Kubica’s helmet and signature.

Managed to secure a pre-owned unit no. 0255/1984 on sale in Ipoh. This limited edition unit comes with an original box, a certificate and an international warranty till 18 April 2010.
