MIDO ALL DIAL CHRONOMETER

What attracted me to this watch is the attractive dark clean dial with its distinctive bold numerals.

The MIDO All Dial chronometer is also uniquely light at 80 gms and looks so clean as it uses titanium as the main base material for the case, case back, bracelet and crown. Holding it in the palm is a breeze.

The case diameter is 42 mm, thickness at 10mm with see through case back. The titanium bracelet is fitted with two side locking buttons.

CERRUTI 1881 LADIES TIMEPIECE

My wife and a few of her friends enquired last night during a friendly gathering why I have not given much coverage on the ladies watch collections. They pointed out that to date I had only one miserable posting last month viz. on the Butterfly Vulcain which has subsequently been sold.

MAURICE LACROIX Pontos Petite Seconde – The Silver Top

The Pontos Petite Seconde edition is among the models released by Maurice Lacroix in 2009. The model comes in two versions, the silver top and the gold top. 

The silver top model PT 7518-SS001-330 with a 43 mm stainless steel case and a see through case back is fitted with a black crocodile strap and a folding clasp. This manual winding Swiss made watch comes with a silver dial, a sub second and the Maurice Lacroix brand name prominently displayed. The crown also displays Maurice Lacroix logo.

ACCURIST ...THE ACCU WRIST

Picked up this Accurist Shockmaster 17 jewels watch from a friend at a bargain. With a silver dial and 34 mm stainless steel case, coupled with a clean design, this manual winding watch looks pretty cool.

All the while I was under the impression that Accurist is a Swiss brand until I started to Google. Nonetheless, still very pleased with this small purchase. The simplicity of its design fitted with a red genuine leather strap made it quite exquisite and breezy to wear.

A little bit of history on the brand is featured here for those inquisitive minds.

This British watch brand is rich in history. Set up by Asher and Rebecca Loftus in 1946 at St John Street, London Clerkenwell District, the couple established the brand that can reach out to the masses.

Accurist watches are made entirely from Swiss components, a positive sales point that guaranteed quality and reputation for value.

In the early days of its establishment, in an effort to increase market share and to position Accurist as a national brand, the company embarked on a non traditional marketing strategy by producing TV campaign which was regularly aired on SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM, arguably the most widely viewed TV programme during that time.

The swinging 60’s saw Accurist introducing fashion into its design, a range of colourful watches that revolutionised the world of watches. Colourful watches were synonymous with miniskirts then.

Soon Accurist ’OLD ENGLAND’ were seen on the wrists of the rich and the fashionables including Princess Anne. Twiggy and the Beatles were among those who wore the large colourful Accurist watches.

In 1978, Accurist launched one of its most memorable TV advertising campaign featuring John Cleese, the ‘ACCUR-ANKLE...ACCU WRIST’ commercial. The commercial won awards round the world including the Palm d’ Or Advertising Award.

The past 63 years indeed has recorded a remarkable feat for a British watch brand name synonimous with affordability, fashionable and elegance.
