PIERRE CARDIN TIME PIECE - OPAL DIAL

This time piece was purchased at an international airport many years ago during one of those working trips overseas accompanying my paymaster.

I loved the white clean dial with an opal decoration especially when lights directed on it producing a spectrum of colours. When purchased, it came in a pair. Well, the lady's one has disappeared through the passage of time.

The dial is 33 mm in diameter and now fitted with a replaced black leather strap. The watch is very light giving a false feeling at times that the wrist is rather naked.

The original strap has worn out and the original buckle with the embossed logo disappeared too.

The gold plated case now spotted pimples all around. Sadly, attempts to revive to its original golden glory was unsuccessful due to nature of its make.

Still, the watch serves as loyal and reliable as before without fail.

The box survived the passage of time to remain intact with vigour.

This time piece has logged many memorable times together through thick and thin during those days as a kuli and will remain part of the collections.

JAGUAR TIMEPIECE

Mention the word Jaguar, the first thing that crossed my mind is the beautiful sleek luxurious Jaguar cars whizzing along the highways. 

Some years ago I had the experience of travelling with a friend in his Jaguar from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur for our Housing Developers Association’s meeting where both of us along with another friend represented Perak. I encountered my first experience with Jaguar time pieces quite recently while sourcing a new brand of watch to adorn my wrist.

The luminosity of the model attracted my attention at the first instant. The price was quite reasonable for a Swiss made.

The black dial brightened by orange and contrasted by grey looks just outstanding.

237.CALVIN KLEIN, THE STORY OF BW THAT SEEKS ITS OWN DESTINY

It is a bangle but it is a watch, so let’s just marry the two and call it a bangle watch or BW in short. Why it was made to fit such a tight wrist of 5.0 cm diameter, only heaven knows...

Many have attempted to wiggle through and many more have held it hoping to try but all did not succeed.

Even the gallery owner’s wife longed for this petite BW only to realise her wrist might risk breaking the BW if she ever tries to force it in.

Along comes a lady today who at a glance spotted the BW at the watch gallery and takes an instant liking.

DECEMBER- A MONTH OF WEDDING RECEPTIONS IN MALAYSIA

My wife and I attended four wedding receptions yesterday. The month of December is loaded with wedding invitations and receptions. Perhaps due to the school semester break or the good weather, or combination of many other factors, the invitations just keep rolling in. We appreciate receiving all those invitations though sometimes it’s hard to attend all if there are too many at different localities far apart on the same day.

We rushed through to oblige all the four invitations yesterday, three occasions during the day and one at night.

The night occasion was grand and splendid. It was the first Malay wedding held at the recently completed, elegantly decorated banquet hall at the Royal Perak Golf Club, Ipoh Perak Malaysia.

It was the reception of our good friends’ eldest daughter’s wedding. Saudara Haji Zamin and Puan Noraini’s daughter, Noor Zafina, an electrical engineer wedded another fellow engineer, Mohd Suffian and RPGC was chosen as the venue for the wedding reception as it was close by to their house.

Members of Kelab Bakti Gunung Keledang turned up in full force to lend support to Hj Zamin, a past president of the club.

The grand reception attended by nearly 700 guest mainly close friends and acquaintances including their immediate neighbour, the Malaysian Cartoonist icon, Dato’ LAT and his wife.

The bride and bridegroom looked stunning in western attire on the dais during the Bersanding ceremony.

Guests were also entertained by a ‘silat gayong’ or traditional Malay martial arts demonstrations and traditional Malay dance performances.

Congratulations to Hj Zamin and Hjh Noraini on this special occasion.

To Noor Zafina and Mohd Suffian, SELAMAT PENGANTIN BARU, wishing you both a blissful life as a married couple and may you both be blessed with smart and healthy children.
