This is a rare collectors' item. Produced in 1994, the watch comes together with original box and certificate and has been kept by the original owner as part of his collections.
This watch is the exact replica of the original "museum' watch prototype, designed in 1947 by Nathan George Horwitt, and selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1959. The bold gold dot @ 12 symbolises the sun at high noon.
It is created in a limited edition issue of 1919 timepieces to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus School in Weimar, Germany.
Horwitt considered himself of the Bauhaus philosophy which is universally regarded as the quintessential expression of modernism.
This Horwitt Museum Watch, like the original prototype, has a hand-winding movement, a gold plated case and a plastic domed crystal.
It is a highly collectible timepiece especially for limited edition lovers.
